The project is part of the ‘From Field to Table’ concept presented by the European Commission in May 2020 as one of the key actions in the European Green Deal. It focuses on the problem of food waste and finding solutions based on ‘circular economy’ (closed-loop economy) activities in schools. The project aims to involve teachers, school administrators, local and regional farmers and municipalities in shortening food supply chains, reducing food waste and transforming food waste into, for example, organic fertilisers. The added value of the project stems from its transnational nature, which allows for the exchange of experiences and learning from best practices from across the Baltic Sea Region.
